We recommend forgoing the mattress pad until your little one is around 10 months to a year old or until your baby can easily roll on their own from back to front. This will give your baby unhindered airflow as their muscles and movement are developing. The mattress covers are water resistant, so many messes stay on the cover and do not reach the core. The entire mattress is completely washable, and we have made Extra Covers available for purchase for each style mattress, so you can always have a backup for those late-night changes. Once your little one grows and messes get bigger, we recommend using our breathable and waterproof crib mattress pad to maintain the breathability and comfort that your little one loves from their Newton while adding a layer of waterproof protection for quicker clean-ups. Keep in mind, the pad is a great addition to any traditional mattress while traveling or in a childcare setting to add the breathability and comfort of a Newton to any setting outside the home!
